The High Court of Judicature at Allahabad has released a notification inviting applications for key positions under the Legal Aid Defense Counsel System, Aligarh.

Eligibility Criteria

Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel

Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of practice in criminal law
• Strong command over criminal law and court procedures
• Excellent oral and written advocacy skills
• Proficiency in legal research and drafting
• Deep understanding of the ethical responsibilities of defense counsel
• Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a team environment
• Must have conducted at least 20 criminal trials in Sessions Courts: (This requirement may be relaxed in exceptional cases by the Hon’ble Executive Chairman, SLSA)
• Adequate IT skills with proficiency in legal and office-related work

Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel

Candidates applying for this post should meet the following criteria:

• 0 to 3 years of experience in criminal law practice
• Good oral and written communication abilities
• Clear understanding of professional ethics and duties of defense counsel
• Strong legal writing and research skills
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
• High level of IT proficiency
