Bengaluru, March 12, 2025: The High Court of Karnataka has announced that the recruitment process for 158 Civil Judge posts has been put on hold until further notice.
The decision follows a pending judgment from the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in a writ petition concerning judicial appointments.
According to the supplementary notification issued by the High Court of Karnataka (Notification No. HCRB/CJR-1/2024), the recruitment process initiated through its earlier notification dated February 10, 2025, has been placed in abeyance.
The delay is due to ongoing proceedings in the Supreme Court, specifically related to IA Nos. 72900/2021, 73015/2021, 40695/2021, 50269/2022, 201893/2022, and 93974/2019 in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 1022/1989.
The case, filed by the All India Judges Association and Others against the Union of India and Others, pertains to significant issues concerning judicial appointments and recruitment policies.
The notification, signed by K. S. Bharath Kumar, Registrar General and Secretary of the Civil Judges Recruitment Committee, emphasizes that further recruitment steps will remain suspended until the Supreme Court pronounces its judgment.
